I've used since Liquid Edition 6 and now upgrade to Avid Liquid 7.10. I had to pay 1040USD (in my country ) for Pinacle Edition breakout box and the software. I's too expensive and complicated. If i could get return 1040USD i would choose another

That's like saying " He, I don't like you" but I will not explain why. Please tell the rest of us WHY you thik is it so awfull. My crystal ball is not on. I happen to own it and use it a lot. Yes, you have to learn to use it, yes it is not as easy as some 100 bucks progs and yes it works if you have your machine configured properly and it is not loaded full of crap. It is made to capture from DV or HDV and or analog, edit, author and output. Not for odd processes like I see tons of people try in this forum. " Hey, I got this AVI and I want to....." is not what this tool is for.

Well, I actually have attempted to use it since version 5 and found it ridiculously complicated, specially after using other NLEs. Version 6 and now 7 have attempted to aliviate the lack of user friendly design by re vamping the interface. The also lesf the old one avaiable for those who for whatever the reason felt comfortable with it. Liquid seems to be a totally different animal as far as editors go, for one, it saves something like 30/sec or something ridiculous. In fact there is no Save button at all. It saves whatever you changed on the project when you close the program or switch users. It also renders everything you do on the fly as you are working. Sounds great right? Well the problem is that youo end up with dozens of "versions" of you project and tons of litle chucnks of rendered files in your render folder. You better have a huge dedicated HD just for Liquid. I attented a live seminar for liquid 6 and you left there with the feeling that if you did not own this porg you would not be able to continue living. The presentor made it look incredibly easy. He only had a mid range Laptop for the presentation and so it impplied that Liquid was not very demanding as far os PC power/speed. Such is not the case. Youo better have a pretty clean machine with a great video card, tons of processor power and at least a couple of gigs of ram. You do not need to make a liquid only PC. He had a few other utilities but only those that had to do with Liquid. A version of Smartsound specific to Liquid, and some Steinberg sound editing product. I'ce come to realize that these seminars are all pretty much indentical. So he has it all preplanned before hand. therefore, all he presents is part of a script that has worked and continues to work perfectly. I guarantee you that when you get this puppy home an loaded it on you machine, such will NOT be the case. The old Pinnacle forums were fulls of complains and questions about how to get this beast to work. Anyway, I now have it but mostly end up using other programs such as Veags 6 that just seem to get the job done at hell of a lot faster with less user stress.

I bought AL7 and I am sorry that I did. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good program, but once you get into programs of this price range it’s not so much WHAT they do anymore (since they will all pretty much do the same thing), but how they do it. After purchasing and running AL7 for a month or so, I began to ask myself if there is an easier way. I own Pinnacle Studio 9 and 10, Ulead Video studio 8, Nero, and a few others, and I was looking for a more advanced program with the same kind of smooth, user friendly interface. AL7 does NOT have this. In fact AL7 is anything BUT user friendly. I have downloaded and tried a lot of the high end editors such as Canopus, Sony Vegas, Ulead Media Studio, and what I noticed is that these programs are a lot more user friendly and much more automated. Drag and drop FX effects for example. AL7 requires a lot of manual input. It also has a pretty dull looking interface to it. AL7 also seems to be a lot more system demanding. Video editors in general are pretty demanding when it comes to the hardware but AL7 seems to want more from you than other programs. If you visit the Avid forums you notice quite a few people having to do all sorts of off the wall things to get the program to function properly… like running the program with nothing but a bare bones stripped down OS. Others are running out and buying a super machine dedicated to nothing but AL7. This to me is the height of craziness! A program of this expense should not make go to the end of the earth and stand on your head to get it to work. As I said before, it is a good program. You can get the job done with it. But there are easier programs that don’t make you jump all kinds of hoops! I think the money is best spent else where.

After using Studio 8 and then 9, I'd have never thought I'd use another pinnacle software product. Saw Liquid Edition on Ebay for a price I couldn't pass up, so I ordered it. Was pleasantly surprised how stable and functional it was - performed better than MediaStudio from Ulead. The learning curve is high, but once you get used to it, it's quite good.

Well, applying the 6.1 update from Pinnacle web site did the trick. This is working just fine. My system's specs are not as high as they ought to be and maybe it will cause me to upgrade in the near future. As will all versions of Liquid Edition the interface takes a bit of getting used to but not as difficult as Avid. Sort of an elitist's feeling to be able to fully master and interface that not every one can use. As far as the program's features, this version is way up there. I just need to to begin to apply what the utility can do to my projects. I have found myself thinking of projects that will utiltize the many functions of this editor. So overall I am very happy at this time with it.

This is an awesome piece of software provided that your hardware meets their compatability guidelines (Mine do!). Have had lots of problems on PC's that dont have certified compatible hardware configurations. I love Liquid Edition 6.1...a big improvement over 5.5!

I'll stick with Adobe Premiere Pro.

After much expense, hope and expectation, this program turned out to be the buggiest thing in the planet. I will operate perfectly only at one of the live seminars one can attend all over the nation. Onece you get it in your machine, it will work well only if it is practically the only app in that machine. You need power and Ram and basically a dedicaded machine for it. There is a whole section on just getting your PC prepared for this app. At the seminar, you will be convinced by the presentor as he runs through the app's amazing functions. The catch is, he ALWAYS runs the same rehearsed package of demonstrations. What he knows will work perfectly. I really wish I could get mine to work. Even Pinnacle Studio 9.4 Plus works perfectly for me. Now with this update ( which can be downloaded - all 600+megs ) from the Pinnacle site, I might be able to get it to work. I assume that the serial from my present LE is all that is needed to install. Anyway, it really is a wonderful piece of software once you get all aspects working. Their user forum is packed with less than sterling comments. Of course I realize that no one posts positive comment in these forums but you get a good idea of what type do problems exist.
